How to Install Stream Telecom Call Tracking via Google Tag Manager

You can add the Stream Telecom call tracking code to your website through Google Tag Manager (GTM). If GTM is already installed on your site, you don’t need to edit the page code: just create an HTML tag, paste your project’s code, and publish the changes.

Before you start

Have the call tracking code for your project ready. Make sure the Google Tag Manager container is installed on the right website and that your account has permission to edit tags and publish changes.

How to add the call tracking code

1. Create an HTML tag
Open the container you need in Google Tag Manager and go to the “Tags” section. Click “New”, open the tag configuration and select the “Custom HTML” tag type.

2. Paste your project code
Paste the full call tracking code you received for your website into the HTML field. Give the tag a clear name, such as “Stream Telecom Call Tracking”, so you can easily find it among other tags later.

3. Set it to fire on all pages
In the trigger settings, select All Pages. This trigger fires the tag on every page where the GTM container is installed.

Check the code, the name and the selected trigger, then click “Save”.

4. Test the tag before publishing
In the workspace, click “Preview”. Enter your website address and connect via Tag Assistant. Check that the new tag fires when pages are opened.

5. Publish the changes
Return to the Google Tag Manager workspace and click “Submit”. Choose to publish and create a version, and add a version name and description if needed, for example: “Stream Telecom call tracking installation”. Click “Publish”.

Once the new container version is published, the call tracking code will be added to your website via GTM.

Important to know

Saving a tag and publishing it are different actions. Saving keeps the changes in the workspace. For the code to start running for your site visitors, you need to publish the container.

A tag firing confirms that it runs. After installation, also check that call tracking works according to your project settings.

Other services you can install via GTM

You can add the GetClient callback widget code and the LiveAssist online chat in the same way. Create a separate HTML tag for each service and use the corresponding code.

If you have any questions about the installation, contact Stream Telecom technical support and we’ll help you check your settings.
