Call Pickup

Definition

A feature allowing a user to answer a call ringing another employee or group.

How it works

Permission to answer another user’s ringing call is usually limited by pickup groups or assigned extensions. Call handling rules determine the order of destinations, ringing time and fallback behaviour. The exact result depends on PBX configuration and whether endpoints are reachable.

Business example

A colleague answers a ringing coworker's extension using the configured pickup code or PBX button.

What to consider

Test busy, no-answer and simultaneous-call cases. Assign responsibility for maintaining routing rules and provide a clear next step when the preferred destination is unavailable.
