Virtual PBX

Definition

A virtual PBX is a cloud-hosted business telephone system for receiving, routing and managing calls without maintaining a dedicated PBX server on site.

How it works

The service provider hosts the telephony platform. An administrator configures numbers, staff accounts, business hours, call queues and routing rules.

Business example

A company with two offices and remote employees uses one main number, an IVR menu and central call history without separate PBX hardware at each location.

What to consider

Compare user limits, included features, recording retention, failover options, CRM integration and total operating costs before choosing a plan.
