How it works
Each button corresponds to two simultaneous tones. IP systems can transport the signals in audio or as separate media events, depending on configuration.

A caller presses 1 for sales or 2 for support in an IVR menu.
What to consider
If the endpoints disagree on how DTMF is transmitted, menu selections may fail. Verify settings in both the PBX and connected devices.
