Call Forwarding

Definition

Call forwarding automatically sends a call from one number or extension to another number, device or group.

How it works

The phone system applies a forwarding rule, such as unconditional forwarding, busy forwarding, no-answer forwarding or a time-based route.

Business example

When an employee is away, their work calls are redirected to an on-duty colleague without changing the public number.

What to consider

External forwarding may incur call charges or affect displayed caller ID. Prevent routing loops and test the backup destination.
