How it works
The caller dials a regular telephone number. The carrier routes the call to the configured SIP endpoint or PBX, which then forwards it to the appropriate user.
Business example
A business uses one public number to reach remote employees through a hosted PBX.
What to consider
The number and the protocol are separate. SMS support, caller ID, concurrent channels and number portability depend on the provider's offering.
