Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Definition

A permission model in which access depends on an assigned user role.

How it works

Permissions are assigned to roles rather than users individually; least privilege makes access reviews more manageable. Protecting telephony and customer data combines technical controls, access rights and organisational processes. Different communication channels can require different safeguards.

Business example

An agent sees customer cases while tariff and routing configuration remains restricted to administrators.

What to consider

Review lawful data handling, key and access management, retention periods, audit trails and recovery procedures. No single mechanism replaces an overall security policy.
