Blind Call Transfer

Definition

Transferring a live call to another destination without consulting its recipient first.

How it works

In a blind transfer, the original agent does not confirm that the new recipient is available before sending the caller onward. Call handling rules determine the order of destinations, ringing time and fallback behaviour. The exact result depends on PBX configuration and whether endpoints are reachable.

Business example

An agent transfers a customer directly to the accounting extension after identifying the reason for the call.

What to consider

Test busy, no-answer and simultaneous-call cases. Assign responsibility for maintaining routing rules and provide a clear next step when the preferred destination is unavailable.
